Olympic Medical Center staff in every role and every department strive to serve our patients, community and coworkers with compassion and a commitment to excellence. If you’ve received compassionate care or excellent service from an OMC team member please share your appreciation for them by sharing your story. Not only will they get to hear how their interaction with you made you feel, you’ll also be nominating them for a BEE Award when you share how they exhibited one or several of these qualities:
H: Shows heartfelt concern, goes above and beyond to be helpful.
I: Is integral to the care or service provided; is innovative, impactful, instructive.
V: Shows versatility in their role, is a valuable part of the team.
E: Is empathetic to the needs of patients and coworkers, provides encouragement.

The DAISY Nurse Individual Award
To share your story and thank a nurse, please submit a DAISY nomination form. Provide specific examples and details if possible about how your nurse made a difference in your care. The more examples you share, the more likely your nurse will be selected. Olympic Medical nurses may be nominated by patients, families and colleagues.

The DAISY Nurse Team Award honors the work of your amazing nurse as well as the other care team members who made your care exceptional, such as medical assistants, housekeeping and dietary staff.
Not only can you thank your care team, but you can nominate them for a special DAISY Team Award for when you share how your care team exceled in one or all of these qualities:
T – Teamwork
Demonstrates exceptional collaboration and unity. The team works seamlessly across roles or disciplines to provide coordinated, patient-centered care, supporting each other in challenging situations.
E – Excellence in Patient Care
Consistently delivers outstanding clinical care with compassion, skill, and integrity. The team goes above and beyond to ensure safety, comfort, and high-quality outcomes for patients and families.
A – Advocacy and Accountability
Actively advocates for the best interests of patients and colleagues while holding themselves and each other accountable to the highest standards of nursing practice and professionalism.
M – Meaningful Impact
A nurse-led team created a lasting, measurable impact through a collaborative improvement project or patient care experience. Their actions embodied the spirit of nursing and the DAISY mission—demonstrating compassion, innovation, and the power of teamwork to drive positive change for patients, families, colleagues, or the organization.
The DAISY Team Award celebrates specific patient care experiences or nurse-led projects that exemplify these values through extraordinary teamwork and impact.
The DAISY Nurse Leader Award recognizes extraordinary nurses in leadership roles. Despite working under tremendous pressure, nurse leaders provide a haven of safety for staff, both physically and emotionally. In this environment, nurses are inspired to do their very best by nurse leaders who model caring behaviors. These leaders provide a setting where compassion is valued, and staff, in turn, treat patients and their families with deep humanity. Leading by example, encouraging and developing others, and engaging staff while maintain a positive outlook are valued qualities among our nursing leaders.
Nurse leaders eligible to be nominated include our CNO, directors, managers, assistant managers, educators and supervisors.
When submitting a nomination, please include examples of how your nurse leader nominee exhibits the following leadership qualities:
L: Leads by example; is visibly present to those they lead; transformational leadership style; flexible nature that induces positive change; uses deep listening, self-knowledge and fairness as cornerstones of a flexible management style; helps grow other leaders.
E: Encouraging; keeps others’ spirits up; strong power skills—intuitive in noticing when something or someone is not all right.
A: Asks for our best; inspirational; models nursing professionalism; decisions consistently demonstrate a patient-centric perspective.
D: Develops others; doesn’t tell people what to do, but rather gives people the opportunity to be involved in forming their work and providing input; knows how and when to delegate to empower staff; dedicated to excellence.
E: Engages with people, including other healthcare professionals, in a way that is inclusive, equitable and respectful. Articulate in speech and written word; mindful of their verbal and nonverbal messaging; represents the nursing profession with dignity.
R: Resilient; maintains a positive outlook; able to see opportunities where others see barriers and challenges; remains calm in the midst of the storm; real with others, doesn’t pretend things are not difficult when they are but able to redirect our focus to our mission.

How we celebrate DAISY and BEE honorees
Olympic Medical Center staff, nominated by patients, families, visitors, physicians and peers, are selected by OMC DAISY and BEE committees. Honorees are recognized at a ceremony and receive heartfelt appreciation along with an award certificate, a special pin, a banner for their unit and a media announcement.
