At Olympic Medical Center (OMC), we love to give moms a birth experience they’ll cherish—one that is safe, comfortable and in line with their hopes for that special day.
We deliver more than 400 babies a year in our birth center unit. With every birth, our No. 1 goal is a healthy mom and baby. You will receive the highest quality labor and delivery care for you and your newborn in a setting that feels warm and personal.
Our maternity services team
Obstetricians, family practice physicians and midwives deliver babies at our birth center in Port Angeles. Our skilled and caring OB nurses have special training in labor and postpartum newborn care, along with years of experience.
Our nurses will spend plenty of one-on-one time with you during your birth experience. You may not always receive that level of attention in a large maternity hospital.
Birth center amenities and policies
Each of our private, birthing suites includes a bed for your partner, Wi-Fi, TV, a private bathroom, a high-tech security system, refrigerators and room service. You can enjoy peaceful views of the Olympic Mountains or the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
We encourage you to room-in with your baby. This promotes bonding with your newborn. It also makes it easier to breastfeed your baby, should you choose to do so.
We involve your family and your partner in the birth experience as much as safely possible and as much as you want us to. Learn more about our visitor policy.
Options for labor pain control
Should you choose labor pain control, our options include IV pain medications and epidural injections 24 hours a day. In addition, our nurses provide plenty of labor support.
We can help make your labor more comfortable with:
- Birthing balls.
- Jetted water tubs.
- Special birth positions.
Breastfeeding support
Breastfeeding offers benefits for moms and babies. If you want help getting started, one of our international board-certified lactation consultants will visit you during your stay.
Our lactation consultants are also available to help with breastfeeding challenges after you take your baby home.
We’re C-section ready
Most births go according to plan. But it’s good to know that emergency C-sections (cesarean births) are available at OMC.
We also offer scheduled C-sections, and we perform vaginal birth after C-section (VBAC).
