HIPAA guidelines

  • Provides the ability to transfer and continue health insurance coverage for millions of American workers and their families when they change or lose their jobs
  • Reduces health care fraud and abuse
  • Mandates industry-wide standards for health care information on electronic billing and other processes
  • Requires the protection and confidential handling of protected health information

Advance directives

To help ensure your wishes for future medical care are known, valued, and honored, Washington State Medical Association offers an advance directive — a legal form that allows you to write down and share what is important you as well as name your health care agent to make health care decisions for you if you cannot make your own decisions. All adults 18 and older can complete an advance directive.

When submitting advance directive documentation to Olympic Medical Center, consider also submitting a completed Authorization To Verbally Release Protected Health Information along with the advance directive documentation to effectively authorize staff to speak with your designated individual(s).
