Local 4th grade class gets special visit from OMC
Ms. Young's 4th grade class at Jefferson Elementary is visited by Casey Peterson, RN, and Dr. Jonathon Freezer
Olympic Medical Center's (OMC) Patient Experience team received letters this fall from Ms. Young’s 4th grade students at Jefferson Elementary in Port Angeles.
The class recently learned about September 11 and the heroes who helped that day. In class, Ms. Young's students decided that the doctors and nurses of OMC are our local heroes.
Each child wrote a letter to OMC doctors and nurses about what they learned in class, a little bit about themselves and included several questions they hoped to have answered. Thirty six of our doctors and nurses enthusiastically responded with thoughtful and personalized replies to their questions.
In early November, Ms. Young’s students were thrilled to receive a visit in their classroom from Patient Experience Manager Sophia Rognlien, Patient Experience Advocate Sabrina Hansen, pediatrician Dr. Jonathon Freezer and Med/Surg nurse Casey Peterson, RN. The group personally delivered the response letters and gave each student a keepsake water bottle. Dr. Freezer also demonstrated a blood pressure cuff and an ear scope and everyone enjoyed a piece of Ms. Young’s homemade pie.
"It was truly an exceptional experience," shared Sabrina Hansen.
