Smoking Cessation

Support for Smokers and Vapers Who Want to Quit

Smoking greatly increases your risk for heart disease and stroke, as well as many cancers, including those of the mouth, throat and lung. Far from being a less risky alternative to smoking, vaping is known to increase risk for severe respiratory illness.

Even if you’re committed to quitting, it’s difficult to do so alone. Olympic Medical Center offers group sessions designed to help active smokers quit smoking. The class uses the American Lung Association’s “Freedom from Smoking” curriculum. This evidence-based program incorporates a variety of techniques, including guided group discussion. The seven-week class is offered at Olympic Medical Center’s Wellness Services office at the YMCA of Sequim.
