Comprehensive Care
Hospitalized patients are often under the care of doctors in several different specialties. This creates the need for a single doctor who is knowledgeable in all the subspecialty areas to coordinate care for patients admitted to the hospital. Enter the hospitalist, an internal medicine doctor who works primarily in the hospital. Hospitalists serve as advocates for patients, developing a care plan, working closely with nurses and the patient’s care team, and answering patients’ questions.
At Olympic Medical Center, we have hospitalists in-house 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Their job is to ensure that patients receive the most collaborative, comprehensive care possible. As internists, hospitalists are equipped to manage a wide range of issues and specialize in providing care that complies with the highest standards for the serious conditions that are common among hospitalized patients today.
