About Me and My Practice

What do you find most rewarding about caring for patients?
I enjoy empowering and educating motivated patients to make the changes that they want to make such as quitting smoking, controlling their diabetes, or losing weight. I can help give them options and then help them pick the treatment plan that is best for them.

What drew you to Olympic Medical Center and the Olympic Peninsula?
My husband, Dustin Larson, and I were excited about the opportunity to return to his hometown near his family. The scenery and outdoor opportunities are phenomenal on the Peninsula! I like OMC because primary care is integrated with multiple specialties and the hospital, and has the support from our organizational leaders.

What can patients expect from a visit?
I am typically straight-forward but try to be compassionate in my communication style. I like to review and prioritize the agenda with the patient, listen to the patient’s story and then develop a plan of action with the patient. We typically review the plan together at the end to make sure the patient has a firm understanding.

How can you serve your patients?
I have worked in a variety of clinical settings and practiced full-spectrum family medicine. My broad clinical experience helps me to be a good teacher to those newly into practice, and has helped me have more ideas for process improvement in our practice.

What led you to choose a career in primary care?
I love the variety of problems I am able to address for patients, whether they are acutely sick, managing a chronic illness, or trying to stay healthy. I also enjoy caring for people over time, through their childhood into adulthood. I also do administrative work for the clinic, which allows me to help teach other clinicians and make improvements to our practice and organization over time.

How do you enjoy spending your free time?
I enjoy being active with my husband – mountain and road biking, running and hiking, windsurfing, and traveling to new places. I love playtime – whether it’s musical instruments and singing, or playing board games like Scrabble.
