04 Aug OMC Announces Denise Harman as Director of Medical/Surgical/Pediatrics

Harman is a registered nurse with extensive leadership experience.
Vickie Swanson, Olympic Medical Center chief nursing officer, announced the appointment of Denise Harman, MSN, RN, to the role of Director of Medical/Surgical/Pediatrics.
“Denise has been a registered nurse since 2015 and has served in a variety of roles over her career. We know her strong leadership skills both clinically and with her staff make her a strong choice to lead the medical/surgical/pediatric team,” says Swanson. “Denise is committed to leading the unit through change and growth.”
As director of medical/surgical/pediatrics, Harman’s goal is to “serve as a leader by collaborating with nursing staff to implement lasting change that will continue to move the Medical/Surgical/Pediatric department in a positive direction,” said Harman. “I will also continue developing a culture that promotes a positive work environment and increases positive patient outcomes.”
Since April 2022, Harman served as OMC’s interim director of medical/surgical/pediatrics. Before taking on the interim director position, Harman was a clinical supervisor, and has experience as a primary care office nurse coordinator, and a bedside nurse in the same department she now leads.
Harman’s nursing and leadership experience spans long-term and memory care, pediatric home health, primary care, corrections nursing and medical/surgical/pediatrics.
