Olympic Medical Physicians’ Staff Rise to the Challenges of COVID-19
PORT ANGELES (September 18, 2020) – Olympic Medical Physicians (OMP) Chief Physician Officer Joshua Jones, MD, recognized seven staff members at a recent board of commissioners meeting for adapting to clinic challenges brought on by COVID-19. They are:
- Donna Cameron, RN, medical office nurse coordinator
- Heather Fry, RN, medical office nurse coordinator
- Ashley Crear, certified medical assistant
- Myshelle Peterson, registered medical assistant
- Erik Farley, certified physician assistant
- Suree Chommuang, advanced registered nurse practitioner
- Stacia Kiesser, clinical nurse educator for Olympic Medical Physicians
According to Dr. Jones, “Donna really helped get our drive-thru COVID testing site up and running smoothly which enabled more than 100 patients to be tested on the first day.”
Fry is a valuable member of the Walk-ln Clinic team and maintains a positive attitude while working long and difficult hours.
Patients, co-workers and supervisors appreciate the way Crear quietly gets things done with efficiency and a smile.
Peterson has the ability to see where help is needed and consistently steps in.
New to the Walk-In Clinic at the beginning of the pandemic, Farley with his can-do attitude, quickly became an efficient and valued member of the team.
“Suree handles high-volume patient days with positivity and high energy. She also elevates the mood of the clinic, which is why everyone knows when Suree is working — it’s going to be a great day,” said Dr. Jones.
Dr. Jones added, “Stacia jumped quickly into action when all of our workflows and processes needed to be adapted to meet the challenges of COVID-19. She worked tirelessly with Incident Command, Infection Prevention, Employee Health and OMP’s clinical staff to ensure everyone understood workflows, had PPE and competencies to meet the added demands of the pandemic.”
In addition, Kiesser helped oversee the COVID-19 testing site logistics including staffing, workflow and keeping leadership informed.
