OMC Auxiliary Donates $21,000 in Equipment to Olympic Medical Center

June 14, 2011 - Olympic Medical Center recently received a $21,000 donation from the Olympic Medical Center Auxiliary, the hospital’s generous volunteer group. The Auxiliary raised the money for the donation over the course of the past year through sales at the hospital gift shop and other fundraising.

The donation will be applied to equipment upgrades and additions in five different departments:

·         The critical care/telemetry unit will receive a powered bariatric chair specifically designed for large patients weighing up to 700 pounds.

·         Physical therapy and rehabilitation services will receive a recumbent bicycle, which will allow almost any patient a safe and comfortable means to exercise legs and arms simultaneously.

·         Nursing will receive a pediatric Broselow resuscitation cart specifically designed for the care of pediatric patients.

·         The education department will receive additional laptop computers and projectors, which will provide more educational opportunities for staff in conference rooms and the computer lab.

·         Lifeline/Olympic Medical Home Health will receive replacement personal help buttons, which are worn by Lifeline subscribers to signal for help in the event of an emergency.

Over the past 31 years, the Olympic Medical Center Auxiliary has donated over $391,000 to Olympic Medical Center. For more information on the Auxiliary, including how to become a volunteer, please contact Kathy Coombes, volunteer coordinator, at kcoombes@olympicmedical.org or (360) 565-9110.
