OMC Auxiliary Donates $35,000 to Hospital for Equipment

June 20, 2017 -
Scholarship Recipients Also Announced

PORT ANGELES – Olympic Medical Center Auxiliary President Leif Olson presented a donation of $35,000 to Olympic Medical Center CEO Eric Lewis at the Auxiliary’s annual "wish list” ceremony on June 12. The funds will be used for a new security system in the hospital obstetrics unit.

"It is important to keep up with advances in technology and security so that we can continue to safely care for the more than 500 babies delivered at OMC each year,” said Lewis.

More than $580,000 has been raised by Auxiliary members and donated to the hospital for equipment since 1980.

The Auxiliary also announced four $1,500 scholarships to medical students.

  • Nicole Anders is pursuing a doctorate in physical therapy
  • Georgia Anderson is studying nursing
  • Kyle Flotto-Meyers is studying nursing
  • Jason Kowitz is a third-year medical student

"The scholarship process is very competitive and it was challenging to narrow down the selections,” said Patty Glennon, chair of scholarship committee. The Auxiliary has awarded a total of $34,000 in scholarships since 2009.

"I appreciate the Auxiliary’s support of these medical students. Building a workforce for tomorrow is critical to our future,” said Lewis.

The Auxiliary raises funds for OMC through a variety of fundraisers and its gift shop in the hospital lobby.
