OMC selects Trisha Duerr, RN, as new Emergency Services Director

PORT ANGELES – Trisha Duerr, RN, has been named director of emergency services at Olympic Medical Center. 

Duerr has more than nine years of emergency nursing experience and has been with Olympic Medical Center for nearly two years, most recently as the supervisor in the emergency department.

"In her supervisor role, Trisha not only developed a triage education program, but also the internal "Code” responses for STEMI, stroke and sepsis,” says Ralph Parker, MSN, RN, chief nursing officer, Olympic Medical. "She was also instrumental in implementing a county-wide fall prevention program and served as the primary educator for the "Stop the Bleed” program,” Parker adds.  

Duerr received her Associate of Science and Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Olympic College in Bremerton, and her Master of Science in nursing education from Western Governor’s University. She is a certified emergency nurse, certified emergency pediatric nurse and is an instructor in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Stop the Bleed and high-performance CPR. She also leads the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program for Olympic Medical. 

The emergency department at Olympic Medical Center had more than 29,460 visits in 2018, and it is also a Level 3 Trauma Center. The busy department has 20 exam rooms and 62 employees. For more information go to www.OlympicMedical.org.
