19 May DAISY Honoree – Judy Bedford
Judy Bedford, RN, is the first OMC recipient of The DAISY Award
PORT ANGELES – (May 2019) Chief Nursing Officer and Hospital Chief Operating Officer Lorraine Wall, RN, honored Judy Bedford, RN, with a DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses® at Olympic Medical Center recently. The award, created by the DAISY Foundation, recognizes the extraordinary, compassionate nursing care provided to patients and families every day.
“We are proud to be among the healthcare organizations participating in The DAISY Award program. Nurses are heroes every day. It’s important that our nurses know their work is highly valued, and The DAISY Foundation provides a way for us to do that,” said Wall.
Bedford, a medical office nurse coordinator at OMP Primary Care Clinic in Port Angeles, received several nominations including the following submitted by a patient: “My nurse goes to the fullest of her ability to comfort, explain, inform and assist in any way with any patient. I have had multiple medical experiences in the past three years and each time she provided the highest quality of care, knowledge, and professionalism I have ever seen. She reassured me on my transfer to another hospital, gave me information on expected care there and helped me with follow up care and appointments. My concern and anxiety were relieved. I worked as an RN for over thirty years. The care, knowledge, and concern for her patients demonstrates a degree of professionalism that I wish I could have achieved in my own career.”
Bedford cared for patients at Olympic Memorial Hospital and Virginia Mason before joining Olympic Medical Physicians Primary Care Clinic in 2006.
