OMC Investigates New COVID Case
On Friday, November 13, Clallam County Health and Human Services connected with Olympic Medical Center leadership and employee health department about a third employee who tested positive for COVID-19 this week.
The County is investigating the possibility that two of the cases are connected. “We are very proud to share that employees are following PPE guidelines and physical distancing standards, making the risk of spread very low,” says Jennifer Burkhardt, chief human resources officer and general counsel. “However, we are working closely with the County to thoroughly investigate.”
Staff members that have been in contact with the three employees have been notified and encouraged to obtain testing. Further, in an abundance of caution, Olympic Medical Center is offering COVID-19 testing to additional employees who work on the units.
The hospital, clinics and outpatient departments continue to be safe for patients thanks to stringent safety measures. The extensive precautions in place and the use of Personal Protective Equipment make the risk of transmission in the health care environment very low.
