Hospital Employee Tests Positive for COVID-19

Early November 6, the OMC leadership team was notified of a hospital employee who tested positive to COVID-19. The staff member is well and in isolation.

OMC immediately investigated the case and commenced contact tracing processes, as appropriate, and the investigation revealed no problems. “We are pleased to report that staff properly adhered to PPE guidelines,” says Jennifer Burkhardt, chief human resources officer and general counsel. “Our employees’ steadfast commitment to PPE usage with patients and each other was apparent, and was effective in minimizing the opportunity for further spread while at work.”

Hospital officials will continue to monitor the situation out of an abundance of caution.

The hospital, clinics and outpatient departments continue to be safe for patients thanks to stringent safety measures. The extensive precautions in place and the use of Personal Protective Equipment make the risk of transmission in the health care environment very low.
