MRI MRI does not utilize x-ray as a means to produce these pictures. Instead, it uses a high field magnet in which the patient rests and then radio frequency is introduced to the patient’s body part being examined. The body part then sends back a signal to an antenna, which then sends these signals to a computer that performs millions of calculations to produce an image of the body part. Several different pictures are taken and each one lasts approximately three to five minutes each. The entire scan time depends on which body part is being scanned. Most exams are about 45 minutes in length. The MRI images are then interpreted by our radiologists. The MRI technologists, along with support staff, are highly trained and experienced. Our goal is to make each patient’s exam a pleasant and comfortable experience, while achieving the best image results." |
