Mammography
Innovations in radiology enable early detection and treatment for a host of women’s health issues, particularly breast diseases. Mammograms are x-rays that can find cancers that are too small to be found during a breast self-exam. The American Cancer Society recommends annual mammograms for women age 40 and over. Olympic Medical Center has full diagnostic capabilities and certified staff in Port Angeles and Sequim.

At our newly remodeled center in Port Angeles, a new GE Senographic DMRIII+ machine provides patients with the latest mammography technology in a warm, inviting setting that emphasizes patient service, privacy and comfort. This facility also has advanced biopsy technology. Digital mammography equipment is connected to sophisticated computer software to perform stereotactic breast biopsy—a procedure that a woman can choose over more invasive surgery when a biopsy is needed. Our mammography services at all three locations are certified by the FDA through the American College of Radiology.
