Bone Densitometry
One of the most valuable new diagnostic tools is bone densitometry, which scans and graphs bone density in a test for osteoporosis. Osteoporosis, a condition where bones become thin and weak to the point of breaking, is responsible for 1.5 million fractures annually.

Osteoporosis is a problem as we age, especially for women. Olympic Medical Center’s new Lunar Prodigy Bone Densitometer uses low-level, dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (or DEXA) to create an image of the bones and measure their density. This enables physicians to assess, treat and follow a patient’s progress.

Osteoporosis is not only treatable, it is preventable with proper care and diagnosis; a bone densitometry test is an excellent first step.
