A new linear accelerator is the focal point of the new regional facility, which serves patients throughout Clallam and Jefferson counties. Highly computerized, this state-of-the-art machine allows the radiation beam to be molded to target specific tumor shapes. In addition, the resource library is a very valuable resource for patients, with computer stations offering access to disease-specific information online, reference books and videos and support information. Peninsula residents now benefit from Olympic Medical’s expanded cancer care program through a new affiliation with Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA). SCCA brings together three world-renowned cancer institutions–the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, UW Medicine, and Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center. Through the Alliance, patients have access to the latest cancer therapies developed by the partner organizations, including treatments for a number of malignant and nonmalignant diseases. Local physicians are able to work with teams of experts with years of oncology-care experience and the latest medical technology. Seattle Cancer Care Alliance chose Olympic Medical Center as its first affiliate community-based cancer care provider in the Northwest. “We see Olympic Medical Center as an ideal partner,” says Norm Hubbard, COO of the Alliance. “They have an excellent staff of talented professionals, as well as the most up-to-date technical facilities. Equally important, they share our passion for eliminating cancer.” Click here to view community cancer resources, telephone and fax numbers.
