Olympic Medical Physicians (OMP) anticoagulation clinic staff recently received certification for successfully completing the Anticoagulation Therapy Management Certificate Program from the University of Southern Indiana. Lawrence Gordon, MD, Jaimi Primrose, RN, and Nancy Grieser, RN, all successfully completed the intensive on-line program and received certification in March of 2010.
Patients who are on anticoagulation medications for various conditions, typically heart conditions, can benefit by being monitored in an anticoagulation clinic. The anticoagulation clinic monitors patients monthly or more frequently to ensure their safety while on this medication. Certified staff can explain the effects of the medication and the importance of this type of therapy.
“Having an anticoagulation clinic provides our patients with a place to ask questions and talk about their concerns,” says Nancy Grieser, nurse coordinator at the OMP Primary Care Clinic. “The University of Southern Indiana’s anticoagulation program provides the most current, scientific information on anticoagulation procedures used successfully across the nation. This arms our staff with up-to-date knowledge on anticoagulation so we can provide the best care possible for our patients.”
Olympic Medical Center offers anticoagulation clinics in Port Angeles and Sequim, and only accepts patients of OMP Primary Care Clinic and OMP Klahhane Clinic.
