Pat McCollum Returns to OMC Cardiac Services as Disease Management Coach: McCollum Will Head Up "Healthy U"

June 10, 2010 - Exercise physiologist, wellness coach and sports medicine health and fitness coach, Pat McCollum has returned to Olympic Medical Center’s cardiac services department after an 18-month hiatus. Her new title is Health Promotions / Disease Management Coach.

“We are thrilled and very fortunate to have Pat back in our community,” says Judy Tordini, RN, director of cardiac services. “With her expertise, guidance and coaching our patients will have an even better opportunity to meet their wellness goals.”

Before leaving in 2008 to move to Maine, McCollum spent 13 years at Olympic Medical. She previously held the position of cardiac rehabilitation coordinator, a position now held by Ron Hodges. With Leonard Anderson, pulmonary rehabilitation coordinator, on staff as well, they can work closely together to provide the most beneficial patient care.

“We have an excellent and encouraging team of clinicians who ‘walk the talk’ and set a good example for our patients on living a healthier lifestyle,” says Tordini.

McCollum specifically will develop and run a Sequim-based retail program called “Healthy U” for patients with risk factors for or diagnosed with heart failure. “Pat will coach our heart failure patients in how to manage their condition and improve their quality of life,” says Tordini.

McCollum is grateful to be back on the Olympic Peninsula and at work at Olympic Medical Center. “I had a terrific reception by everyone here and I’m excited to re-join my dedicated professional peers in the cardiac services department. I had to go 3,000 miles away to realize how much I appreciate Olympic Medical and my friends.”
