The American Hospital Association (AHA) Certification Center announced that Liane McGarvie, patient relations manager at Olympic Medical Center, earned the designation of “Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management” (CPHRM). This is a national credential that distinguishes an individual as being among the elite in a critical field of health care management.
McGarvie, a progressive employee with Olympic Medical Center for eight years, received a Masters degree in health care administration this past summer. “Liane has skillfully created a role for herself here at Olympic Medical Center that has proven very valuable to the organization and our patients,” says Donna Davison, administrative director of risk management, Olympic Medical. “She has shown dedicated determination in her work toward improving patient satisfaction.”
To earn the CPHRM, an individual must satisfy eligibility requirements that incorporate a blend of work experience and education, agree to adhere to professional standards of conduct, and pass the CPHRM examination. The CPHRM examination tests knowledge required of a competent health care risk manager in areas of loss prevention / reduction, claims management, risk financing, regulatory / accreditation compliance, operations and bioethics. The CPHRM program supports the community of health care risk managers and is designed to provide an objective and rigorous assessment of professional knowledge.
Olympic Medical Center is a comprehensive health care provider for more than 70,000 residents of Clallam County. It provides inpatient services at its 126-bed acute care facility, and outpatient services, including cancer care, cardiac services, imaging, surgical services, rehabilitation therapy, laboratory and home health at locations throughout the Olympic Peninsula region.
