PORT ANGELES – After conducting it’s 2015 regular independent accountability audit of Olympic Medical Center in November, the Washington State Auditor’s Office presented its final report last week.
Eric Lewis, chief executive officer, Olympic Medical Center, updated the Board of Commissioners at its regularly scheduled board meeting on January 4 with the positive news: "For the 16th year in a row, there were no findings,” says Lewis. "We have an excellent finance department who work with others throughout the organization to ensure we comply with the law and safeguarding public resources through internal controls, but also that our policies and procedures are well documented.”
Areas examined are those representing the highest risk of fraud, loss, abuse or noncompliance including: financial condition, payroll overtime, general disbursements, conflict of interest and procurement (public works projects).
According to the audit summary, "in the areas we audited, District operations complied with applicable requirements and provided adequate safeguarding of public resources. The District also complied with state laws and regulations and its own policies and procedures in the areas we examined.”
The next scheduled audit is due in November 2017.
