Olympic Medical Center Named to Top 20 Rural Community Hospital List for Second Consecutive Year

April 4, 2018 -
PORT ANGELES – The National Rural Health Association (NHRA) once again named Olympic Medical Center as a Top 20 Rural Community Hospital.

The Top 20 Rural Community Hospitals, including Olympic Medical Center, scored best among Prospective Payment System hospitals (rural community, non-Critical Access Hospitals) on iVantage Health Analytics’ Hospital Strength Index™. These Top Hospitals will be recognized at a ceremony during the NRHA’s Rural Health Innovation Hospital Summit on May 10. Olympic Medical Center is the only Washington hospital named to this list.

"OMC is honored and pleased to receive this recognition and we remain focused on improving our services to our patients and community,” says Eric Lewis, chief executive officer, Olympic Medical. "We earned this recognition because of the outstanding work our employees and medical staff perform every single day. I am very proud of the OMC team: Every one of us at Olympic Medical Center contributes to providing excellent quality care for our community.”

The Top 20 Rural Community Hospital winners are those hospitals who achieved success in the overall performance based on a composite rating from eight indicators of strength: inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspectives, costs, charges and financial stability. Earlier this year, Olympic Medical Center was named as a 2018 Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals in the US by the National Rural Health Association’s Rural Health Policy Institute, iVantage Health Analytics and The Chartis Center for Rural Health. Hospitals named to this list play a key role in providing a safety net to communities across America, and are top performers in managing risk, achieving higher quality, securing better outcomes, increasing patient satisfaction and operating at a lower cost than their peers, according to the report. Olympic Medical Center was the only hospital from Washington State named in the report.
