Tara Lock has joined Olympic Medical Center as the new director of Olympic Medical Cancer Center. The cancer center has been without a dedicated director since the departure of Ken Rarey in mid 2008.
“We are very pleased to have found such a professional candidate for this position,” says Pamela Hawney, assistant administrator of specialty services at Olympic Medical Center. “Tara’s knowledge in health care administration, as well as her previous experience with Virginia Mason Medical Center and Harborview Medical Center is very valuable.”
Lock hails from the Seattle area, where she previously worked as radiology business and marketing manager at Virginia Mason Medical Center. She has also worked as radiology business manager at Harborview Medical Center. She holds a Master’s Degree in Health Policy and Administration from Washington State University, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Eastern Washington University.
Lock chose to join Olympic Medical Cancer Center because it offered the same level of technology and expertise as she was used to in Seattle, but also offered it within a smaller community setting. “Olympic Medical Center fit the bill,” says Lock. “After seeing the facilities at the cancer center and meeting the physicians and staff I knew it was the right fit for me. I have never worked for a hospital with less than 300 beds so I have become accustomed to having state-of-the-art technology and support within my reach and I didn’t want to compromise on that. Thankfully, I didn’t have to.”
Lock considers herself steadfast about disease prevention, health and wellness. “I am looking forward to not only promoting the treatment options here at the cancer center, but also working closely with other services to promote prevention and awareness,” says Lock.
Olympic Medical Center is a comprehensive health care provider for more than 70,000 residents of Clallam County.
