JOB SUMMARY

The Cardiac Device Nurse is responsible for providing pacemaker and automatic implantable cardiac defibrillator (AICD) interrogation and reprogramming in person and/or remotely. They will be responsible for performing perioperative assessment and programming of patient’s implanted device relative to scheduled procedures, as well as in-patient device patients as ordered by a physician. This position is responsible for initial device analysis and preliminary report generation, as well as alerting practitioners to urgent issues requiring further action. As part of the Heart Center staff, the nurse must deliver safe and valid diagnostic and risk reduction non- invasive Cardiology procedures in a clinical healthcare environment in accordance with departmental and organizational policies and procedures. The cardiac device nurse is a trained professional who has demonstrated the cardiac knowledge, competence, and skills necessary to assist and/or perform invasive cardiology diagnostic procedures, and recognize clinical implications pertaining to health and wellness status. They work directly with staff, program coordinator, and Manager to assist the Heart Center in providing excellent customer service, and may also be responsible for selected non-clinical activities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EQUIPMENT COMPETENCIES

EDUCATION

Graduate of an accredited nursing program preferred

 

EXPERIENCE

·        2 years’ clinical nursing experience required

·        Cardiology experience in a health care setting required (e.g., pre-hospital, clinic/office, or hospital), competent in cardiac rhythms and EKG interpretation

·        Knowledge of Cardiac Implanted Electronic Devices (CIEDs), including testing, assessment, and programming desirable, with one year of device experience preferred

 

LICENSURE/CREDENTIALS

·        Current Washington State Registered Nurse licensure

·        BLS and ACLS certification
