JOB SUMMARY

Provides professional and competent respiratory care services to Olympic Medical Center patients. Performs physician ordered respiratory care procedures and acts as a resource to physicians in relation to the technical aspects of care to all age specific groups and types of patients. Demonstrates knowledge of principles of respiratory care and interprets appropriate information to identify each patient’s respiratory care needs and deliver appropriate therapy. Acts in a manner consistent with Washington State’s professional practices for Respiratory Care Practitioners as well as OMC’s organizational policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EQUIPMENT COMPETENCIES

EDUCATION

* Graduate of an accredited two year respiratory therapy educational program OR

* Meets the educational criteria as established by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) to sit for the advanced practitioner exams or has been issued the registered respiratory therapist credential by the board.

 

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of one-year clinical experience in an acute care hospital setting desired.

 

LICENSURE/CREDENTIALS

* Must be a licensed or license eligible Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of Washington.

* Must be either a Registered Respiratory Therapist or a Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician credentialed thru the NBRC.

o CRT credential = Respiratory Therapist I

o RRT credential = Respiratory Therapist II

* BLS, ACLS and NRP certification required.
