From a patient's primary care physician to the specialists on staff at Olympic Medical Cancer Center, a world-class team coordinates cancer care for each patient. Oncologists are not the only physician member of the patient's cancer team; it can include other members of Olympic Medical Center's medical staff, such as a radiologist, general surgeon, urologist, gastroenterologist, gynecologist or a primary care physician. Communication among team members is critical and includes participation in meetings called tumor boards, a time when cancer team members review each patient's progress. The integrated approach to cancer diagnosis and treatment ensures all members of the team are aware of the treatment plan, optimizing care for each patient. The cancer care team includes, but is not limited to, the physicians, clinicians and staff shown here as a representative group.
